Vuillafans, classified local town with charm
Developped along the pretty Loue River, Vuillafans is a charming touristic village, protected by rocky escarpments and the ruins of two middle-ages castles. One is Chateauneuf (ruins) the other is Chateauvieux (privately owned)
On the village square do not miss the XV century church famous for its triple nave and its retable.
A few mansions dot the village and are worth a look. One of the most interesting is the Balthazar Gerard house, in the aptly named Rue Gérard, a man who under Philippe II, murdered the Prince of Orange and was later tortured and killed.
The XVI century stone bridge and the numerous wine-makers' houses are a particularity of the village and deserve your attention.
